SCOTLAND
Outer Hebrides

The Outer Hebrides—or Western Isles—are a chain of verdant islands off the rugged and dramatic west coast of Scotland which are rich in history and local culture.
On this excursion you explore all that history and beauty via gentle trekking across rolling hills and lush grasslands. You will visit Armadale Castle, the 5,000-year-old Callanish Standing Stones and the Harris Eagle Observatory (eagles are native to the area), and stay in a 17th-century hunting lodge owned by the high chief of the MacDonald clan. All while sampling wee drams of whisky and learning a little Gaelic as you go.
Itinerary Highlights
Exploring the extraordinary Callanish standing stones, more than 5,000 years old and a lesser-known gem on par with Stonehenge
Visiting the Harris Eagle Observatory and scanning the skies for rare and beautiful Golden Eagles
Enjoying an evening of traditional Scottish food and music and learning a bit of the Gaelic language
Staying in a 17th-century former hunting lodge, still owned by the high chief of the Macdonald clan
