From your cabin base near spectacular Bow Lake—the Alberta Rockies at their finest—Yamnuska’s experts will teach you all the basics and more: from navigation to route planning to insider ski techniques, to avalanche awareness, crevasse rescue and emergency response. Day 1: Driving an hour and a half north to Bow Lake, climbing to Bow Hut, crossing frozen Bow Lake and skiing up the canyon, which leads to the amphitheatre below Mounts Olive and St. Nicholas, and skiing for a total of six kilometres
Days 2-5: Touring other huts in the region for optional stayovers at night, climbing surrounding peaks and learning the ropes of ski mountaineering
Day 6: Skiing back down to Bow Lake and returning to Canmore in the late afternoon
